Step into the fantastical world of Hansel and Gretel. When their parents leave them in the woods, the siblings seek to find a way home. However, soon, they get sidetracked by a trail of treats leading to a sweet-covered cottage. But when they meet a seemingly kind stranger, things aren't as they initially seem.

Hansel and Gretel in London is a wonderful, family-friendly, poetry-infused show that was featured in the Evening Standard's 2023 Best Children's Shows to Book at Christmas. This glittering outdoor show is sure to put audiences in the holiday spirit.

Hansel and Gretel is a musical directed by Nick Bagnall (Love's Labour's Lost, The Two Gentlemen of Verona) and written by Simon Armitage. Armitage has published over 20 poetry collections, he was awarded a CBE for his services to literature, and in 2018, he received the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry.

The story of Hansel and Gretel has a rich history; it was published in 1812 and also has been known as Little Step Brother and Little Step Sister. Simon Armitage's adaptation is just the latest in a long history of adaptations including Engelbert Humperdinck's opera, Hänsel und Gretel. There have also been numerous television and film adaptations, including the 2024 Netflix series The Grimm Variations, which is an anime series that includes a science fiction retelling of the classic tale.
