The Comedy About Spies is a play that tells the uproariously funny tale of a rogue British agent who steals the plans for a brand-new weapon. When CIA and KGB agents meet at London’s Piccadilly Hotel, a series of botched missions and mistaken identities begins. The high-stakes caper reaches a boiling point when a young couple and an actor auditioning for the James Bond film check into the hotel.
The Cold War comedy stars Dave Hearn (Magic Goes Wrong), Adele James (Underdog: The Other Other Brontë), Chris Leask (Peter Pan Goes Wrong), Henry Lewis (Mind Mangler), Charlie Russell (Peter Pan Goes Wrong), Henry Shields (The Play That Goes Wrong), Greg Tannahill (Peter Pan Goes Wrong), and Nancy Zamit (Tasting Notes).
The Comedy About Spies in London is by original Mischief company members Henry Lewis and Henry Shields. Mischief Theatre held a six-week workshop in November 2024 to develop the show, and they created a three-part documentary about the process. The highly anticipated show had a sneak peek preview of its opening scene in November 2024 at The Royal Variety Performance, and it also aired in December 2024 on ITV1.
The Comedy About Spies talented creative team includes director Matt Dicarlo (The Play That Goes Wrong), set designer David Farley (Little Shop of Horrors), costume designer Deborah Andrews (Patriots), sound designer and composer Jon Fiber (The Canterville Ghost) for jollygoodtunes.
Mischief Theatre, which began in 2008 and started out doing improv comedy, is the creator of other hit shows, including The Play That Goes Wrong, which celebrated 10 years in the West End in September 2024. The show also earned both an Olivier and Tony Award.
