About Cirque du Soleil - Corteo

Cirque du Soleil Corteo, the high-flying show seen by over 11 million people worldwide comes to Royal Albert Hall in an awe-inspiring performance. Book Cirque du Soleil Corteo tickets on London Theatre.

Cirque du Soleil Corteo is a circus show that seamlessly weaves mesmerising acrobatics and jaw-dropping stunts with the story of the clown Mauro imagining his funeral as a festive parade and carnival atmosphere. The name Corteo comes from the Italian word 'cortège,' which means procession, and refers to the parade Mauro vividly imagines.

Since its 2005 premiere in Montreal, Corteo has been beloved by audiences worldwide. The show has been performed on four continents and 22 countries.

Cirque du Soleil Corteo in London is making history as the Royal Albert Hall is being reconfigured for the staging. The stage splits the Hall in half, with the two halves of the audience facing each other. Additionally, this is the heaviest show Cirque du Soleil has brought to the Royal Albert Hall, suspending 67 tonnes from the grid.

Director of Programming for the Royal Albert Hall, Matt Todd, said, "This is our 29th year welcoming Cirque du Soleil to the Royal Albert Hall, and this is the first time that we have been able to reconfigure the Hall like this, dramatically and uniquely changing the whole perspective within the auditorium. It is wonderful for the Hall to be used in this way and will without doubt be one of Cirque du Soleil's most extraordinary performances."

The show is written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca (Cirque du Soleil Luzia), and its stunning score is by Philippe Leduc and Maria Bonzanigo. Jean-François Côté and Michel A. Smith also reworked several pieces.
