Brace Brace, a brand new play from Oli Forsyth, the 2024 recipient of the Jerwood New Playwright accolade, comes to the Royal Court Theatre. Book Brace Brace tickets on London Theatre.
Brace Brace is a play that explores the psychological aftermath of tragedy. Set after a plane hijacking, Ray and Sylvia are among the survivors. They struggle to come to terms with what happened as one closes themselves off, and the other cannot focus on anything but the tragedy. Soon, cracks begin to form in their relationship.
This drama stars Olivier Award nominated Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso, Pink Mist), Craige Els (Just For One Day), and Olivier Award winning Anjana Vasan (A Streetcar Named Desire, We Are Lady Parts).
Dunster said in a statement, “I’m a very lucky boy. Performing at the Royal Court has, of course, always been a total dream of mine, and to be doing it alongside the brilliant Anjana Vasan, under Dan Raggett’s watchful eye and Oli Forsyth’s pulsating script does feel like an embarrassment of riches.”
Brace Brace in London has a talented creative team behind it, including writer Oli Forsyth, who received the inaugural Davidson PlayGC Bursary. Forsyth said of the play, “This play started with one scribbled sentence, in the back of a book, on a long train journey. That it is now being fully realised by an incredible team in such a celebrated venue is more exciting than I can tell you.”
The expert creative team also includes Daniel Raggett (Accidental Death of an Anarchist), designer Anna Reid (Rock ‘n’ Roll), lighting designer Simeon Miller (The Sun Shines for Everyone), Tony and Olivier-winning sound designer Paul Arditti (The Inheritance), fight director Alex Payne (Opening Night), and casting director Arthur Carrington (Bluets).
