About Kim's Convenience

Kim's Convenience, the smash hit play that inspired the hit Netflix comedy of the same name, returns to the London stage at Riverside Studios following its sell-out Park Theatre run. Book Kim's Convenience tickets on London Theatre.

Kim's Convenience is a play written by and starring Ins Choi. Choi said of the show, "It's a wonderful journey and it feels great to have finally grown into this role. This play launched my career and continues to provide a great vehicle for Asian actors and shines an important light on representation."

The talented cast also includes Namju Go, Jennifer Kim, and Miles Mitchell who starred in the hit Park Theatre run. Edward Wu also stars in the play and the three understudies are Eu Jin Hwang, Lia Lee, and Andrew Gichigi.

This drama is filled with heartwarming moments and moments of humour as it tells the story of a Korean family-run convenience store. The show explores the dynamics between a first-generation immigrant father and his second-generation children.

Kim's Convenience in London has an excellent creative team, including director Esther Jun who acted in the 2011 premiere of Kim's Convenience. The creative team also includes set and costume designer Mona Camille (A View From the Bridge), lighting designer Jonathan Chan (Move Fast and Break Things), and sound designer and composer Adrienne Quartly (The Tragedy of Thomas Hobbes).

Kim's Convenience premiered in 2011 at the Toronto Fringe Festival after it secured a slot by winning their New Play Contest. Since then, this show has been a hit and its 2012 staging at Soulpepper Theatre in Ontario earned two Toronto Theatre Critics awards. The hit play also inspired the CBC Television comedy, Kim's Convenience, which ran for five seasons, and after the first couple of seasons, the show was also put on Netflix.
