See Brian Cox return to the stage in Eugene O’Neill’s masterpiece at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End. Long Day’s Journey Into Night tickets are available on London Theatre now.
Set in August 1912 at the Tyrones' summer home in Connecticut, this powerful play by Eugene O'Neill, which is semi-autobiographical, follows a single day in the lives of the family. As the day begins to lead into the night, the Tyrones grapple with their own shortcomings, addictions, and struggles, blaming and resenting one another in the process. Long Day’s Journey Into Night is an emotional exploration of shattered dreams, moral imperfections, and the complexities of family relationships.
Brian Cox, celebrated for his role in HBO's Succession, leads a star-studded cast that includes Patricia Clarkson (Sharp Objects) as Mary, Laurie Kynaston (Spring Awakening, Fool Me Once) as Edmund, Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) as James Jr, and Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) as Cathleen.
Written by O’Neill between 1939 and 1941 and posthumously published in 1956, Long Day’s Journey Into Night earned O’Neill the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1957 and the Tony Award for Best Play. Many considered O’Neill’s tragedy one of the greatest American plays of the 20th century, alongside Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman and Tennessee William’s A Streetcar Named Desire.
The award-winning Jeremy Herrin (Best of Enemies) will direct the London revival of Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
