About Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist

Following a successful try-out run at The Lyric Theatre in 2023, Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist makes its highly anticipated return to the London stage at The Other Palace. Book Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist tickets on London Theatre.

Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist in London is based on the true story of Queen Marie Antoinette's scandal-filled reign. The musical centres on a crime that helped spark a revolution when con artist Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy implicated Queen Marie Antoinette in a plot to defraud the Crown Jewellers.

The musical has an exceptional cast, including Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins, Strictly Ballroom) as Marie Antoinette, and Renée Lamb (Be More Chill, SIX) as Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy who are reprising their roles from the Lyric Theatre performances.

"Perhaps appropriately, Zizi Strallen is the glittering star of this show as Marie Antoinette herself – completely mesmerising at every turn," London Theatre Reviews 4.5 star review said of The Lyric Theatre performances.

Millie O'Connell (SIX, The Cher Show) and Travis Ross (Kit Kat Club) are also in the cast. The ensemble includes Lila Eccles (Cinderella), Tarik Frimpong (The Drifters Girl), Sunny Lee (Hillsong Carols), Emma Robotham-Hunt(Everybody's Talking About Jamie), Manu Sarswat (London Stage Debut), and Zara Macintosh (& Juliet).

Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist is a musical with an outstanding creative team. The musical book is written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia) and Tasha Taylor Johnson (The Cat In The Hat), with the music and lyrics of the multi-genre pop score by Jack McManus (Either Side Of Midnight) and Tasha Taylor-Johnson.

The show is directed by Bronagh Lagan (Flowers for Mrs. Harris), building off the original staging by Drew McOnie (Jesus Christ Superstar), additional choreography is by Christopher Tendai (Closer To Heaven), set and costume design is by Sami Fendall (Smoke), and lighting design is by Joshie Harriette (Sucker Punch).
