Don’t miss Matthew Bourne’s dance production of Edward Scissorhands at Sadler’s Wells. Book Edward Scissorhands tickets on London Theatre today.
Based on the acclaimed Tim Burton film, this contemporary dance-infused live stage production features Bourne’s New Adventures Dance Company. Like the movie, it tells the haunting story of Edward - an unusual young man with scissors in place of his hands. A poignant and evocative romance unfurls in this visually stunning gothic fantasy as Edward struggles to fit into 1950s American suburbia. Will his neighbours be able to look past Edward’s strange exterior to appreciate the artistic and compassionate soul behind the blades?
Tim Burton loosely inspired the character of Edward based on a drawing he made as a teenager. The story, which reflects Burton’s isolating and quirky youth in suburban California, is considered the most personal of all of Burton’s work.
Bourne’s stage adaptation brings these familiar themes to a new theatrical genre. This utterly unconventional tale of isolation, artistry, and a desire to be loved evokes elements of horror, sci-fi, and romance; it’s Beauty and the Beast meets Frankenstein, wrapped up in a pas de deux.
After premiering in London in 2005, Edward Scissorhands has since toured across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States (where it received a 2007 Drama Desk Award). For the first time in nearly a decade, the captivating modern ballet returns to the UK, launching a tour in November of 2023 and settling in London just in time for the holiday season.
Fall in love with Edward this winter at this unique and thrilling theatrical experience. Book your Edward Scissorhands tickets on London Theatre.
