After acclaimed performances worldwide, the award-winning comic Alex Edelman brings his solo show to the Menier Chocolate Factory for a London encore.
At the start of the Just For Us show, Edelman reveals what it’s like to have an Olympian for a brother; growing up with unconventional holiday seasons; and how gorillas can communicate with each other. Everything ties neatly into Just For Us’s main story — Edelman discusses how he broke into a gathering of white nationalists and tackled anti-Semitic hate head-on.
Just For Us marks Edelman’s third show: his 2014 show Millennial saw him win Best Newcomer at the 2014 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, followed by Everything Handed To You in 2015. His current show premiered at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2018, and picked up an award for Best Show — the only US comic to earn a nomination. He then took Just For Us to the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and Soho Theatre in London.
In 2021, Just For Us ran for three months at the Cherry Lane Theatre, gaining a legion of celebrity fans including Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfeld, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The show then moved to Soho Playhouse for six weeks, and then Greenwich Street Theatre for a further three months.
Alex Edelman is an American stand-up comedian and writer. As well as his solo shows, he’s also contributed to TV shows such as The Great Indoors and Teenage Bounty Hunters. He also created the BBC Radio 4 series Alex Edelman's Peer Group.
