The Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons play is an unconventional story. At the start, audiences meet a lawyer named Bernadette and a musician named Oliver. If falling in love at a pet cemetery wasn’t strange enough, the pair are then restricted by a Quietude Bill — a new law states every person can speak a maximum of 140 words a day.

Bernadette and Oliver continue to converse, even if they don’t always open their mouths. They use sign language, morse codes, charades, eye contact and play the drums to tell one another how they feel. Sometimes, the silent moments do all the talking though. Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons premiered at Warwick Arts Centre in 2015. Sam Steiner picked up a Judges Commendation at the 2015 National Student Drama Festival for his debut play. After performances in Edinburgh and at Latitude Festival, the Lemons London play now features a starry cast.
