How would you feel if you learned of secret, mystical powers? In The Glow, audiences will quickly discover that it doesn’t matter what physical presence exists, but it’s all in the mind. The Glow tickets are available on London Theatre now.
The Glow play centres on a nameless woman who does not know who she is. She has no memory, and she’s not sure how she arrived in her current situation — living in an asylum. All is revealed to her through a spiritualist, Mrs Lyall. When the unnamed woman becomes Mrs Lyall’s assistant, she learns about her life and her unknown powers. The Glow is set in 1863, which is the middle of the Victorian era.
The Glow London performances will be staged at the Royal Court. The Glow will run for six weeks, but it’s set to be a stand-out play in 2022. It’s been in the works since 2018; The Glow won the 2018 Pinter Commission, a playwriting award given to new plays that will be staged at the Royal Court. However, The Glow isn’t Alistair McDougall’s first play at the Sloane Square venue. Previous plays by Alistair McDowall at the Royal Court include all of it, X and Talk Show. Vicky Featherstone directs The Glow.
