Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, in a co-production with Fictionhouse. Directed by Dominic Cooke, Kramer's largely autobiographical play about the AIDS crisis in 1980 New York has not been performed professionally in London since its European premiere in 1986. The Normal Heart tickets are available on London Theatre now.
The Normal Heart is set in early 1980s New York, and explores the impact of the AIDS crisis. Channelling his anger at the systems in place, writer and activist Ned Weeks aims to unite the gay community to talk about their rights to survive. Ben Daniels will play Ned Weeks in The Normal Heart at the National Theatre.
The Normal Heart was first performed in London at the Royal Court in 1986. After an acclaimed off-West End run, The Normal Heart transferred to the Noel Coward Theatre, with cast members winning Olivier Awards. The Normal Heart is at the Olivier Theatre from 23 September.
