Lucy St Louis is a West End actress, best known for playing Diana Ross in Motown the Musical. In 2021, she returned to the West End as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, becoming the first actress of colour to play the role in London.
Graduating from Laine Theatre Arts in 2012, she made her West End debut that same year, cast in the Ragtime ensemble at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. She then joined the original cast of The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre, joining as a swing. Louis then progressed with the company to understudy the role of Nabulungi.
In 2015, Louis was cast in the original company of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at the Aldwych Theatre, playing Shirelle/Little Eva. She then stayed in the musical for a year, until she was cast as Diana Ross in the West End premiere of Motown the Musical. Of her performance, LondonTheatre.co.uk wrote: “there are strong impersonations of Diana Ross… it is thrilling to see so much exceptional talent on one stage.”
More recently, Louis has played Antonia in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum alongside Kelsey Grammer, Danielle de Niese and Cassidy Janson.
Aside from theatre, Louis has even appeared in a Disney film. She is featured in the 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast as a debutante.
In 2021, Louis made history as the first actress of colour to play Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. She’ll star alongside Killian Donnelly as The Phantom. Lucy St. Louis will play her final The Phantom of the Opera performance on 21 Jan. 2023. After The Phantom of the Opera, Lucy St. Louis will play Glinda in Wicked, alongside Alexia Khadime as Elphaba.
