Future NT Productions announced!


At a press conference to release The National Theatre's 2007/08 annual report The Director of the National Theatre, Nicholas Hytner, announced several productions that will be at the venue in 2009.

PHAEDRE by Jean Racine, version by Ted Hughes. Starring Helen Mirren & Margaret Tyzack, directed by Nicholas Hytner, in the Lyttelton in June.

ENGLAND PEOPLE VERY NICE, a new play by Richard Bean.

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by Marianne Elliott.

As prevously announced, MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Deborah Warner, starring Fiona Shaw

DIDO QUEEN OF CARTHAGE by Christopher Marlowe, directed by James Macdonald.

DANTON'S DEATH by Georg Buchner, directed by Michael Grandage.

DEATH AND THE KING'S HORSEMAN, by Wole Soyinka, directed by Rufus Norris.

TIME AND THE CONWAYS by JB Priestley, directed by Rupert Goold.

THE OBSERVER by Matt Charman, directed by Richard Eyre, in the NT Cottesloe

The 2007/08 National Theatre annual report included: "The NT staged 26 productions in the year, of which 19 were new. Box office achieved 87% capacity, with 730,000 paid attendances. The Travelex £10 Season was again very successful and drew audiences of 90% capacity. The biggest earner for the year was War Horse, which took £2.3m at the box office and achieved 99% occupancy. Strong demand from under-18s for this production in particular but also across the repertoire, accounted for 12% of total audiences (85,500).
