Full cast announced for La Cage Aux Folles


Full cast has been announced for the Menier Chocolate Factory production of La cage Aux Folles , which opens at the Playhouse Theatre 30 Oct 2008, following previews from 20 Oct - booking to 10 Jan 2009

Joining previously mentioned Douglas Hodge (Albin) & Denis Lawson (Georges), are Tracie Bennett (Jacqueline), Paula Wilcox (Mme Renaud / Mme Dindon), Zoe Ann Bown (Swing) , Ben Bunce (Cagelle), Darren Carnall (Cagelle), Nicholas Cuningham (Hanna), Alicia Davies (Anne), Ben Deery (Etienne), Adrian Der Gregorian (Francis), Nolan Frederick (Chantal), Leanne Harwood (Colette), Matt Krzan (Swing), Robert Maskell (Tabarro), Iain Mitchell (Renaud / M Dindon), Gary Murphy (Cagelle), Stuart Neal (Jean-Michel) , Jason Pennycooke (Jacob), Dane Quixall (Cagelle), Duncan Smith (Ensemble), Scott Speadbury (Swing).

Tracie Bennett's London stage credits include "Hairspray" currently playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre; "Les Miserables" at the Queen's Theatre in 2006; "High Society" at the Open Air Theatre Regent's Park in 2003; "Cash On Delivery" at the Whitehall in 1996; "She Loves Me" at the Savoy in 1994.

Paula Wilcox is best known for her roles in TV’s The Liver Birds and Man About The House. Her London stage credits include "Whatever Happened To the Cotton Dress Girl?" at the New End Theatre in 2008; "The Female Odd Couple" at the Apollo in 2001; "Comedy of Errors" at the Open Air Theatre Regent's Park in 1996; "The Queen and I" at the Vaudeville in 1994.

It is directed by Terry Johnson, with choreography by Lynne Page and the musical director is Nigel Lilley. It is designed by Tim Shortall with costumes by Matthew Wright.

Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman, Book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the Play La Cage aux Folles by Jean Poiret.

The idyllic existence of Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of the La Cage aux Folles club, is threatened when Georges’ son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing politician, who wants to close down the local colourful nightlife! With a visit from the prospective in-laws imminent, they all decide to take drastic action to hide their lifestyle...but can they keep it up?
