Beverley Knight originated the role of Faye Treadwell in The Drifters Girl, and received an Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Felicia Boswell now plays Faye Treadwell.

The Drifters became a global music phenomenon thanks to Faye and George Treadwell, with number one hits in the 1950s including 'Money Honey', 'Honey Love', 'Adorable' and 'There Goes My Baby'.

The Drifters line-up has changed regularly, with over 60 members throughout its active years including Ben E. King, Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore. However, one woman was at the heart of the band for over 30 years; Faye Treadwell.

What is The Drifters Girl about?

Based on the career of Faye Treadwell, the world's first African-American female music manager, The Drifters Girl musical explores her life and career while managing The Drifters, a 1950s American doo-wop and soul vocal group. First formed as a backing group, The Drifters were established in 1953 to accompany Clyde McPhatter.

Charting their hit records and sell-out tours to audiences around the world, as well as legal battles facing the band, The Drifters Girl is set to share the full story about the American vocalists and the woman who helped their careers.

Nostalgic, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if You like fun! It features some incredible singing & simple but effective set. Not the strongest plot but it doesn't need it as it's just fun

Don’t see it if You don't like the Drifters or that style of music. The show's strongest feature (other than the small cast) is the music.

Absorbing, Thought-provoking, Resonant, Great staging, Great singing

See it if you want a perfect jukebox musical with a difference - wrapped in amongst the songs is a woman in a 'man's' industry and challenging issues

Don’t see it if you just want to see Beverley Knight - I've seen the UK tour version - Carly Mercedes Dyer is wonderful in the title role
